Animation Challenge on CGTalk - Refining

Here is the spline pass for animation challenge #7 on CGTalk.

I modified and changed the walk cycle and the timing of the reaction by the red character. I took out few of the poses as it was overpowering and a little too distracting from the main action of the character to the left.

    hey dude, looks good, consider;

    red character : takes very fast little steps, this is good for differentiating froom the other character, but: what do lots of fast little steps tell u about a character? mebe not what it is that you are trying to describe.
    when red character stands up from crossed leg (just b4 frame 160– btw it really helps having those frame numbers. nice one :) it is very fast and there is no weight sway to compensate for the shift ie he moves very quickly and then is frozen, mebe very slow weight adjust sway to absorb the standing movement.
    try never to have a period of time when a characters center of mass (weight) dosnt shift. just a slight shift will take away any “statueing” note just because one part of body is moving dosnt mean its ok to freeze the rest, weight constantly shifts slightly. (the walking character has a good amount of weight shift)

    walking guy, watch out for right hand is already turning into pose throught the arm swing, possibly delay the hand orrientation until its time for the pose.

    aside from that : your characters pants and shoes are dark, possibley lighten the floor colour so we can see the foot work. its a little thing that will have big impact.

    beautiful anticipation of walking guy cowering on geting hit in the head.

    nice one dude, keep it up.

    Hey Avner,
    I like it a lot but is missing more personality for your second character. I would say the first one has his personality, it is just missing better timing and smoth the poses. I do not know which software you are using but the keyframes need more “in and out” to smooth the moviments. This piece can be amazing, you just have to see it as a life action, not as an computer animation action.
    Good job
