Some revisions and more of the infamous bouncing ball

Posted by Avner Engel in Animation, Flipbook

Thanks to everyone who was kind enough to find the time to give me some feedback on my overlapping tests I did last week. I really appreciate it.

Below are the revisions I did based on the comments I was given.

Simple ball bouncing on the spot with a tail:

Next thing I decided to tackle is a simple ball falling off a step and changing pace and energy.

Falling Ball with no Squash and Stretch:

Ok now the tail looks better, i was kind of hoping to see the tail end ketch out a 8 shaped loop of some kind but its way better now. The second is better tough but its a simpler motion from teh tails standpoint to accomplish.

One thing that you could experiment with is using periods that don’t match the exact frame count. This way you could get rid of the mirrored movements like feeling. Also Id liek you to test with a negative to what you have before hit anticipation, and try to make it smaller than the after stretch. Than more would be nice to see the ball being a bit afraid of the long drop Or being determined about the jump, heroic etc.. once its commenced. Remember there should always be a story going on even in simplest of animations.
