Simple Walk Cycle
This time I attempted to animate a simpler walk cycle but still maintain a little bit of character in the walk.
I started off with drawing the contact poses, then added breakdowns and inbetweens until the spacing felt fluid enough.
Stay tuned, there are more to come.
Nato, this is for you mate.
Allow me to introduce you; “Ryan” a short film by Chris Landreth (who won an academy award for his effort in 2004). Enjoy!

Hi, my name is Avner, and I am addicted to animation!
Welcome to my work in progress animation workbook. Feel free to share ideas, thoughts, feedback or anything else that can help me evolve and further my learning.

Av, great character walk!! That short film “Ryan” was crazy, but way good. Thanks for putting that on here.

Another good looking walk cycle Avner. Subtle and “simple” movements are as important to practice as the big, broad, and dramatic ones. I think you have the structure of the movement worked out for a walk cycle. You are keeping track of the major forms and such. I could fuss over some minor details but the basics are all there. I’m impressed with how you keep cranking these out.
Dude ur doing Gud stuff…

Hey Avner,
Yeah, I agree with Erik… you’re cranking out a lot of animation… good stuff, man… you’re really passionate about animation. I think the walk is working fine. Maybe he leans back a bit much, though… maybe very slight movement in the upper body to show it’s not completely stiff… but I mean in the general sense, I think the walk is fine.
What I was trying to say before, was to emphasis weight… coz I think weight is the most important aspect when it comes to any walk.
I think Pixar are the best when it comes to pulling off the best weight… they really know how to make things feel like they have weight… I like stuff from Dreamworks as well, but think it feels a little spliny at times… but that’s just me…
Keep up the good work, Avner… your doing a good job.
