Yup…only a first pass and I already like what you have going on there. I’ll refrain from making any sugestions as I know this is only the idea stage. :)

The only thing that really struck me about the piece was that it is on a bus/subway car.

This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what you want to do. Right now, there does not seem to be any interaction with the environment- prompting the question: Why is the scene on a bus?

What I mean is this: The opening suggests the bus is moving because no one is getting on or off and the characters are holding themselves steady- this could open the door for some neat animation, gestures that are aware of the precarious balance and shifting of weight naturally happening on a moving bus. However, as it is right now, the characters start seemingly trying to hold themselves steady- but end up both letting go of their anchors. It makes the movements a little less specific than they could be, because the characters ignore the environment. Imagine the sneezing man trying to keep one hand on a bar (keeping himself from falling) and the other hand cleaning the sneeze- tricky, but a great way to discover more specific/entertaining actions and gestures. Same with the man holding the newspaper.

I may be being nitpicky, but I it seems unlikely that a character would remove the only thing keeping him/her upright on a moving bus.

another alternative would be to change the environment so you can keep what you have. Make them at a bus stop- and remove the hands on bars altogether.

I don’t want to hold you up though, do not sacrifice your time/execution to find the “best scene” (does not exist). What you have will be good if it is well executed technically . Just throwing some ideas up.

    Keep it up!

Great test Av. This is such a catchy animation, especially living in the city and taking the bus/subway everyday! Great idea, and the animation looks great also. Keep it up!!

    Cheers,
    Darrell

Man that look like it took awhile to make!! Drawing each page over and over. I saw an action coloring book that uses the same principle but it can be colored at http://www.truactionflix.com
