Horse Trot – Blocking and A Bit More
I figured that since I already started looking into the mechanics of quadrupeds, another couple of experiments with the horse might help me learn and understand it a bit more.
This time around I went for a trot, as always, any comments or feedback are welcome.

Hi, my name is Avner, and I am addicted to animation!
Welcome to my work in progress animation workbook. Feel free to share ideas, thoughts, feedback or anything else that can help me evolve and further my learning.

Yo Av, sorry it’s taken me so long to get over here! This is looking cool. From a cursory glance at a few youtube vids (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcpE_UOz1Ww) it seems like the head should be lower and the front legs should step out further (perhaps keep the horse’s body closer to the ground to achieve this), but other than that, it looks great – nice one!
Hey Av!
This is looking pretty good.. the leg work seems to be right, I just think he’s maybe a bit floaty? or gliding..even though there is some up and down movement.. maybe lim is right, that it should be closer to the ground? I’m no horse master hehe but also I think that he should contact faster..and spring up faster.. right now it feels a bit even.
