Planning Ahead Some Ideas
Change of Emotion:
Over the past few weeks, I really wanted to animate something that can convey a change of emotion in a character while keeping things relatively simple. Ollie Johnston said in the Illusion of life that he always tried to show what the character is thinking and how it’s reacting to whatever happenes to him/ her in the scene. Inspired by this I tried to come up with a short test that can convey a change of emotion from calm and peacful to annoyed and restless.
Below is a flipbook I did to try and put down my thoughts to paper. I particularly tried to avoid doing video reference with this one as I didn’t want it to end up looking like me.
Body Mechanics Test 180 degrees Turn:
Inspired by what my friends from class 1 at AM are currently doing, I started brainstorming and think of ideas for my class 2 upcoming assignments. This time around I tried to think of the motive that caused Ballie to turn, like what was the reason behind the action. The first part of this shot would probably have to be put on hold as I doubt I will have any time to animate it during the term but at least the idea is there.
Body Mechanics Backflip Jump:
Here I tried to add a little spice to the backflip by setting up some sort of a parkour environment and to maybe try and connect what happened in this shot to the one above it.
Side Step:
Just another take at animating a side step, I had a couple of ideas while flipbooking this one but I decided to put them all on hold in the meantime.

Hi, my name is Avner, and I am addicted to animation!
Welcome to my work in progress animation workbook. Feel free to share ideas, thoughts, feedback or anything else that can help me evolve and further my learning.

These sound like fun projects Avner. Can’t wait to see what you do with them!
Just leaving a note to say I dropped by. I reckon, choose one and make it really good. I like the look of the 180 degree turn.
Absolutely cracking stuff buddy! I really need to spend some more time working in Flipbook. I’d highly recommend doing some parkour stuff as well – your backflip planning looks great – do that!
