Every morning, on my way to work, I listen to different animation podcast. One of the things they all have in common is how vital it is for us as animators is to observe what’s around us and adopt it into our work. Hearing such simple words of wisdom not only inspire me to look outside the square and draw whatever my eyes stumble upon but also analyze it from an animator perspective.
Below are a few more doodles I did on the tram on my way to work. The average time spent on each one of those sketches is about 2 minutes as people are coming and going all the time.

As I mentioned in the last pose post, I started reading this awesome animation resource I found on Animation Meat. Basically reading these notes gives you a lot of insights about how the guys at Disney approached the art of drawing, as well as the different elements the drawings should convey. I strongly recommend it to everyone.
In one of the chapters they discuss the need to observe and look around us as a tool to improve our work. This simple piece of advice has struck a cord in me and ever since I read this passage, I am trying to keep my eyes open. Often I find myself at work ( I work as a barista at a chocolate shop) or on the tram on the way home searching around for interesting people, poses, expressions, accents, phrases, or anything that can capture the essence of an interesting scenario.
Below are a few more doodles, I spent a couple of minutes drawing each one of them. The purpose of this exercise is to train my eye and improve the flow of my lines. I wish it will have more consistency, something that might come with practice.

Hey guys,
A while ago, when I started experimenting in Flipbook, I found it hard to maintain the size and the volume of my Drawings. One of my colleagues at the 11 second club, Amrit has suggested to look at the notes of Walt Stanchfield about maintaining the volume of your drawings. I managed to get a copy from Animation Meat.
The notes are a great source of information for all sorts of things, but mainly what it gives you (or at least for me) is a better understanding of the importance of looking at whats around us and being able to break it down into simple lines and shapes.
Below is my first attempt at a new approach I am trying, I took these sketches on my way to work, while sitting on the tram, or waiting for it to come. The purpose of this is to explore the principle of pose and essentially “milk” it and push it more and more.
I would love to hear what you guys have to say about it.

Cheers
Just a couple of drawings I did on my way to work.
